You want to teach more about diversity and inclusion in your k-2 classroom but don’t know where to start

Friend, fear not!

The Diversity A - Z: Monthly Tools For An Inclusive Classroom mega bundle is here

I can help you create an inclusive K-2 classroom through easy to use resources and lesson plans that represent each student, without taking extra time to do it.

Does this sound like that little voice in your head?

🤚🏿 Your classroom is full of resources, books, worksheets and files but none of them connect to diversity, or maybe some of them do but you aren’t sure which ones.

🤚🏾 You feel awkward an unsure when it comes to teaching about diverse cultures. You’re worried about saying the wrong thing. You’re worried about what parents will think!

🤚🏽 You don’t have a clear plan about how or what to teach when it comes to teaching about diverse celebrations and cultures. You definitely do NOT have time to spend hours researching.

This is for you if:

💚 You want to teach beyond the ABCs. You want to make a difference and help your students becoming accepting, welcoming, inclusive people.

💚 You want each of your students to feel represented and included.

💚 You teach all day. You’re busy and you’re tired! You don’t have time to spend hours creating diversity and inclusion resources for your students even though you know that’s what they need.

I’ve got you covered.

Imagine you had a personal diversity mentor sending you easy-to-read information about diverse celebrations along with French and English.

You get to create the inclusive classroom you crave and that your students need. You know that you’re making sure each of your students feels REPRESENTED.

That’s why I created Diversity A - Z: Monthly Tools for an inclusive classroom

With Diversity A - Z you will:

😍 Feel ORGANIZED and informed about how to teach about diverse holidays, cultures and communities.

😍 Feel CONFIDENT because you know enough about each holiday to teach about it and you know which picture books to refer to.

😍 Feel PROUD that you are creating a community of students that is inclusive and accepting. This will make your school and community a more welcoming place.

😍 Know you are ahead of the curve. Many teachers aren’t even thinking about diversity yet and you are!

😍SAVE TIME! No need to spend hours researching and sourcing out resources.

You might be thinking:

  • I don’t have time to take on anything new

One block a week is all it takes to implement one of the lessons or activities. Plus it’s all cross-curricular. Teaching about diverse holidays can incorporate art, music, reading, S.T.E.M. and so much more!

  • How can I get parents on board?

You’ll get a letter to send home to parents each month so they’ll be able to understand and support your lessons

  • How can I get my admin on board?

I’ll walk you through how to find the parts of your curriculum that connect to diversity and inclusion. I’m here for you!

In Diversity A - Z I will give you the tools to feel confident while teaching about diverse celebrations, observances or notable months. RELEASE YOUR WORRIES about saying the “wrong thing.”

Your students will be guided towards becoming antiracist, welcoming people.

Some examples of what you’ll receive (in English and french)

  • Monthly ebooks explaining the holiday we are focusing on

  • Information, buzz words and teaching tips for each holiday or theme

  • Virtual field trips

  • A list of additional teaching ideas to support that month’s focus

  • Ongoing support from me (Ask me anything! I’m here to help)

  • A Facebook group community where you can ask questions

Here’s what people are saying about Diversity A - Z: Montly tools for an inclusive classroom

"My students loved the Ramadan crafts and bulletin board letters. I loved the vocabulary cards to post in the room that the students could use for their writing & our class discussions. I also love the equity and all are welcome posters!"

- Natalie N

"Pre-membership, I would teach units and lessons based on the research I did. Would spend a lot of time finding free resources (since teachers never have enough $$!) and would spend a lot of time trying to find authentic sources. I would teach diverse holidays and always try to open with a book. "

- Rachel T

"When the membership topic came up, I realized my lackluster diversity-based curriculum and knew I wanted this to be a bigger focus in my classroom. Learning about Ramadan and Eid was a great start in expanding my own education. I hope this membership continues and we can have more conversations about diversity and inclusion!"

- Malika C

"I absolutely loved having that information [about the diverse celebrations] in one place. It made my learning much richer & improved my confidence."

- Natalie N

"The kids love to learn! They love to learn about different cultures, especially when told from the perspective of what other kids’ lives are like."

- Rachel T

Hi! I’m Breyen!

I’ve been teaching for 15 years in the suburbs of Vancouver, BC. Most of those years have been teaching Kindergarten French Immersion but this past year I decided to branch out. I taught part-time Grade 1 and part-time elementary music.

I grew up listening to my mom talk about when she came to Canada from South Africa in the 1970’s with her family when she was a child. They left during apartheid, hoping that in Canada they would have a better life. However, they experienced more racism in Canada than they did in South Africa. Peers would make fun of my mom’s long black hair and her accent. Her teachers and peers scoffed when she used terms that were used in South Africa but not in Canada. My Oupa, being Indian, was called names like “carpet flier” in his place of work.

Although today, we might not be used to seeing such overt racism, especially in elementary school, racism still exists.

I want this mega bundle to expand the perception kids have of the world. Not everybody celebrates Christmas and Easter. Some children in their school celebrate Hanukkah or Eid. With my membership, students of all cultures will feel seen and included. No more students pretending they celebrate Christmas just to fit in.

This mega bundle is needed more than ever after the pandemic. Kids spent 2 years mainly only ever seeing their immediate family. Their worlds have become narrow. They haven’t spent time seeing and interacting with people different from themselves. Let’s counteract that with this membership! I want to not only impact classrooms but impact whole communities.
